About Aurora Province
Aurora Province is located on the East-Central side of Luzon Island of the Philippines. It is the north-eastern most province of Central Luzon (Region III). It is bordered on the north by the provinces of Isabela and Qurino, on the west by Nueva Ecija and Nueva Viscaya, on the south by Bulacan and Quezon, and on the east by the Pacific Ocean.
Aurora province’s main link to the rest of Luzon is through a narrow mountain road that twists through the Sierra Madre Mountain Range. As of November 2010, the road to Aurora is almost completely concreted. Travel time from Metro to Manila to the province can be as quick as four and half to five hours in a private car.
The municipalities of Aurora Province are Baler (the capital town), Casiguran (the site of the Aurora Pacific Economic Zone and Freeport), Dilasag, Dinalungan, Dingalan, Dipaculao, Maria Aurora and San Luis.
Aurora Province has a total land area of 323,954 hectares with a coastline of some 332 kilometers. It has a population of approximately 174,000 (based on the May 2000 national census).With a density of 54 persons per square kilometer, it has the fifth lowest population density in the country.
